Andreas Glauser
Random Room
Lucerne artist Andreas Glauser, born in 1973, studied from 1998 to 2002 at the Lucerne Hochschule für Gestaltung und Kunst, and won the Exhibition Prize of Lucerne Art Society on the occasion of the Annual Exhibition of Central Switzerland’s Artists. He is now realising his sound installation Random Room in two adjoining rooms in the Museum of Art Lucerne.
In the anteroom, visitors are welcomed by a quiet, penetrating sine tone, before, after taking off their shoes, they enter the large room and move through networks of sound determined by the random function of four CD-players. In this way 249 short electronic compositions by Glauser combine into a larger composition that never repeats itself. The installation draws its life from the artist’s monopolisation of the viewer’s senses: light, sound and the texture of the floor contribute to an overall visual, acoustic and tactile event.
