Claudia Kübler
Drei Sekunden vor Mitternacht
Manor Kunstpreis Zentralschweiz Luzern
Drei Sekunden vor Mitternacht (Three Seconds to Midnight) – the day has already advanced considerably. And yet only now does man appear, that is, if we structure the emergence and development of life in 24 hours. Claudia Kübler (*1983) is interested in geological processes, the origins of mankind, and in particular, in time, its measurability, elasticity and visualization. How do we perceive time? How do other creatures or even stones experience time? Claudia Kübler’s works are about where we position ourselves and what impact our actions have, for example, how our visit alters a work of art. When that work is finished is an open question. At the start of the exhibition or at the end? Does it continue to exist afterwards? The artist prefers to work with haptic materials characterized by transience, like plasterboard or sand. As a result, her works are often indebted to the process, are precarious and fleeting.
Claudia Kübler receives the 2022 Central Swiss Manor Art Prize, one of the most important promotional prizes awarded in Switzerland.
