Jun Nguyen-Hatsushiba
Jun Nguyen-Hatsushiba (b. 1968) is one of the most striking artists living and working in contemporary Vietnam. With his impressive underwater films he has already appeared in major group shows in the United States and Europe. In both his filmic and his sculptural work he engages with the turbulent history of Southeast Asia and, with his Memorial Projects, he creates symbols for a time shaped by the complex entanglements of our globalised world, the appropriation of new territories and the violence of historical developments. Along with a survey of his work up to the present day, Jun Nguyen-Hatsushiba is showing a new film and a large spatial installation in which the historical phenomenon of flight and the fate of political refugees is counterposed with a world of spirit and hope.
