Museum of Art Lucerne’s Artists’ Editions
Museum of Art Lucerne has regularly published editions with exhibiting artists, sporadically throughout the 1970s and 80s but regularly in the 90s. In this way the artists were able to show their appreciation to the Museum. In this way, over the course of the years, a considerable and varied collection was accumulated. It consists of prints, some photographic editions, artists’ books and posters, and multiples. Not only does it give an indication of the exhibitions held by Museum of Art Lucerne, it also gives an impressive picture of the art of the last decades of the 20th century. A few remaining copies are still available – an attractive opportunity for art lovers, collectors of contemporary art and friends of Museum of Art Lucerne.
The editions were mostly produced in the context of an exhibition, and subsequently entered the collection of Museum of Art Lucerne. So the exhibition not only grants interesting and stimulating access into the specific art-form of the reproduced art-work, it also particularly provides a survey of the main focuses of the collection and exhibitions of Museum of Art Lucerne over the past few decades. But not only that – the art lover is given a unique opportunity to acquire a copy of an edition and thus enjoy some involvement with the Museum of Art’s collection.
