Public Sector

The cultural activities of the Kunstmuseum Luzern are subsidised by the public sector on a legal basis. Both the Canton and the City of Luzern finance essential parts of the museum’s budget through the Grosse Kulturbetriebe Luzern, a special purpose association. Furthermore the members of the Kunstgesellschaft Luzern, the Foundation for the Kunstmuseum Luzern, the Artclub Luzern and the Foundation BEST Art Collection Luzern contribute towards financing the museum’s exhibitions, collection and educational activities. It is the responsibility of the Kunstmuseum to cover the remaining financial expenditure by raising additional funds from patrons, sponsoring partners and the operating revenue.
